At the initiative of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) Project and under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice the Working Group on implementing the judicial database comparable to CEPEJ-STAT has been created.

The Working Group consists of the representatives of the Agency for Court Administration, Superior Council of Magistracy, courts of all levels and national consultants specialised in court management and court statistics. At the centre of the discussions of the Working Group members is the draft concept of the national tool JUSTAT developed by the Project team. The concept envisages publication of the relevant statistical data and performance indicators of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova. The concept is based on the example of CEPEJ-STAT, a platform compiling various data on judicial systems in European countries, collected by the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ). Another important part of the Working Group mission is to determine and define the key performance indicators currently published in the judiciary, their methodology, calculation, description and graphical representation in order to be published on the new platform JUSTAT. The ultimate goal of the Working Group is to further to improve the court management and distribution of resources through improved collection and use of the judicial statistics as well as to ease the understanding of judicial statistics not only by the legal professionals and analysts but also by the public. In its turn this should increase the transparency of the judiciary and the trust in Moldovan justice.
The Working Group on implementing the judicial database held four meetings in January and February 2021 and is going to finalise its work by end of March after which the terms of reference for the new statistics platform will be developed. Its work is facilitated by the team of the CoE/EU Project “Support to further strengthening the efficiency and quality of judicial system in the Republic of Moldova” and national consultants. Regular weekly meetings of the Working Group will follow in the upcoming period.
This activity is implemented under the framework of the project “Support to further strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova”, as part of the CoE / EU Partnership for Good Governance 2019-2021 (PGGII). It is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
