Six temporary placement Centres for people with disabilities approved the Institutional programme on implementation of prevention measures and control of Coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The staff of the Centres from Orhei, Hânceşti, Bălţi, Cocieri (r. Dubăsari), Bădiceni (r. Soroca) and Brânzeni (r. Edineţ) have consulted the Programme elaborated and proposed by Keystone Moldova and offered recommendations for improvement.

THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAMME is prevention and control of COVID-19 infection in residential institutions, focused on strengthening institutional and human capacities on the mediumterm response to the implementation of public health measures.

THE PROGRAMME’S OBJECTIVES are:

  • Institutional capacity building and strengthening the skills of staff from institutions regarding the measures of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection;
  • Ensuring the implementation of measures of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection in residential institutions.

Also, the Action Plan on the implementation of the Programme for the period 2020 – 2023 was approved.
The institutions have made clear commitments regarding mandatory measures to prevent and control COVID-19 infection, use of protective equipment and disinfectants. The document sets out the measures taken by the administration and staff of the residential institution, measures for people with disabilities from residential institution, measures for visitors, case management
of COVID-19 infection.
The employees of the institutions have previously participated in a series of trainings. 17 employees participated in the Training of Trainers; further, the participants delivered informational sessions on the implementation of measures of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection for another 453 institution employees.
The activities are organised within the project „Ensuring safety and human rights of persons with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities in 6 residential institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic”, implemented by Keystone Moldova and funded by the European Union from the EU Rapid Response Mechanism to urgent needs of civil society in the Eastern Partnership.
